Finding a working facial cleanser can be hard. Finding one that actually cleanses, one that has no added chemicals, doesn't eave your fc oily etc. can be frustrating! Well I finally found one! Bioque has a great cleanser made with pure Yucca extract. Super Bright Craziness!

When my boys started getting older I could see their imagination slipping away. They are now 12 and 13 and it has been hard for me to find a product that can get their imagination station working again. When we received the Super Bright Glow Sticks I figured I would pretty much be on my on when  came to the creative part, Boy was I wrong!

As soon as I opened the cute designed tube they came running, asking if they could help. I am always open to offers of help LOL They dove right in cracking the sticks and placing them together laughing the entire time. I sat back watching them and thinking how nice it was to hear them laugh rather than argue. Not only did Super Bright Glow Sticks give them a change to use their imagination again but they helped my boys bond a bit more. They spent hours making faces and whole body armor and so much more!

In the package you will find 100 glow sticks and 100 connectors. They are Non-toxic and CPSIA Compliant - Premium Quality. You can find them here.

A Day at the Dog Park

Yesterday we decided to take a family outing to the near by dog park in Dothan Alabama. This place is very pretty and equipped with every thing you need for a family day out! They have recently built two huge dogs parks that are separated by dog size and are fully fenced in. They provide a wading pool, sprinklers, tunnels, a water fountain and toys for your fur babies to enjoy.

It was Maria's first time in a car and it did not go so well. She wasn't sure what to do with herself. All she did know was there was so much to explore outside of the car and needed to figure a way out! Needless to say she was not successful.

While Miss. Honey has had many puppy play dates she has never been around that many dogs at one time. At first she was shy sitting upon my lap refusing to move, but once she seen how much fun Maria was having she joined right in! Every one adored her new puppy Mohawk.

While my husband Miguel and my eldest son Hayden went fishing in the pond Skyler and I took the dogs on the 2 mile walking trails.

Maria seriously enjoyed herself. Stopping to smell just about everything she could find. Even though she had just spent two hours playing with other random dogs she could not resist trying to bite her pup sister Miss. Honey!

We all had a lovely day. The weather was perfect, the dogs enjoyed themselves and the big boys enjoyed there day fishing. We were all pretty exhausted from the hours of fun. Maria passed out as soon as we walked in the door.

Even Miss. Honey Could not stay awake after all of the excitement from the day.

Thank you for allowing me to share our day with you. I would love to hear about your adventures with your fur babies. Let me know how you spend your days with them in the comments below.

NiNi's Guide to Raising Teens- PT1- NO MORE YELLING!

My eldest son turned 13 back in April. The moment the clock struck midnight the "change" happened. He went from being a shy boy who loved his parents and watched over his younger brother to a over emotional teen who always wants his own way and refuses to let any one tell him other wise!

Each day it seems like our home reverts into a war zone the moment he comes home from school. We are always fighting and constantly yelling! This will go on until bed time and then we are right back at it the next morning.

It becomes exhausting very fast! You feel like you are at your end and you want to throw in the white towel and let him run loose just so the yelling stops. Well as a parent you know it is not possible to do so. So you begin to think of ways to control the situation in more of a quiet manner.

I started off by trying the "let's walk away for now until we both calm down" speech. Well that just did not work. We either never talked about it again or we would end up right back where we started.
Next on the list was "let's close our eyes and count to 10." What  joke that was! I would only get to the number 2 before one of us was back at yelling again.
Then there was the "Okay I am done! I'll just ignore him until he is done screaming." Well let me tell you that did not last long!

So for days I was racking my brain on ways I could find some type of  middle ground and stop the yelling and fighting entirely!
My brain was on over drive, starting to over heat from all of the thinking I was doing, then all of a sudden like a freight train speeding down the tracks into a dark tunnel then smacking into a brick wall, IT HIT ME!

So off I went to find some 3X5 index cards and my trusty Sharpie!

Then I went to work writing little messages on them. I wrote little things like "I know you are upset right now but I don't like talking to you when you are so angry" "I know you may feel like you hate me right now but try to remember I Love you"  "I know you think this is unfair but this is just the way it needs to be right now" "Could you please take a moment and collect your thoughts then talk to me in your normal voice?"

So I patiently waited for him to get home from school then waited until something upset him. I hopped up and grabbed my index cards and walked into his room with a big smile, waved my hand in front of his face to get his attention and pointed my finger to my cards and vowed to myself  that I would not say a word to him no matter what!
As he read the first card you could see a sparkle hit his eyes and then he proceeded to try to talk and right away I pointed my finger at my next card. Card after card his smile grew bigger and bigger.

When he was done reading all of my cards he stood there smiling, I walked up and gave him a big and walked out of the room.

Silently I was jumping for joy and giddy with happiness! I had a victory under my belt and the best part there was NO MORE YELLING!
The house was quiet and we all were getting along. It was a long awaited victory but a joyous one.

Every time I think a situation will turn into a argument I pull out my trusted index cards!

I am not sure if this has been done before but it has helped tremendously in my home with both my boys and I will definitely continue to use my index cards every chance I get!

Do you have teens or younger children that like to yell or fight with you? What are your methods of controlling the situation? Have you tried the index card method before? if so how did it work out for you?

I do hope this post helps you to find different ways to find a neutral ground with your children. Remember I always love hearing from my viewers. Suggestions and advice are always welcomed.

NiNi's Guide to Raising Teens - The Intro

Let me start by telling you that I am a 30 year old mother of two boys ages twelve and thirteen. I have been finding myself in frustrating situations lately when I comes to raising my teen and preteen.

I started thinking.... I can not be the only one going through this.  I felt it would be nice to share my frustrations, mistakes, victories, advice, and what not to do's. I want to start off by giving you a bit of a back ground on each of us.

Let me start with myself. I got pregnant with Hayden (my oldest) when I was sixteen and had him at seventeen then found out I was pregnant with Sklyer (my youngest) five months later. So I was eighteen with two little ones. In 2005 my significant other and father of my boys' passed away in a boating accident. I had been raising both boys on my own until my husband came in the picture back in 2009.

My husband Miguel was born in Puerto Rico but raised I NYC. He works as an armed Security Guard working over nights. He is the disciplinarian, as I am the passive one when it comes to the boys.

Hayden just tuned thirteen back in April and the second it turned midnight he turned into this raving  monster that never wants to communicate unless he is screaming at you or saying how much he doesn't care.

Skyler is my lover unless he isn't getting his own way that is when he unleashes his inner madness! He is notorious for talking under his breath while he walks away.

We have recently opened a new chapter in our journey of life and moved from NY to Alabama. It has been quite a challenge but a satisfying one.

I do hope you will stay tuned to hear my trials and errors of raising teens.
