We Choose Virtues

Teaching our young children the main virtues of life is vital to a better tomorrow. As a mother, a Aunt and a Sunday school teacher, I know the importance of showing our young children which path to take. At We Choose Virtues they provide parents and teachers alike with the specific tools and programs to further their children's education in many ways.

Their 12 Virtues flash card pack is safe to use in public schools along in private and religious ones. I personally use my flash cards in my Sunday school class room. I Like the fact that each card is in full vibrant colors which helps to catch the eye of young children and keep them interested. Anther nice feature is the on the back of each card. They basically break it into sections for you, making it easier to teach each card and it's importance.

On the Back of each card you will find 5 sections. The first section is the "Teaching Tip" section. Here you will find a few suggestive sentences you may use when explaining the meaning of the card to your class room or children. The next section will be "Virtue User Challenge" Here you will find a suggestion as to what you should do that day. For example on the "Content" card your challenge would be to go through the entire day without saying "I am bored"  or "I want". You will also find a "You will Need" section, "What to say after "I'm Sorry" and a "Fun demonstration" section.

All in all these cards are great! It is a fun ay to get each and every child in your life leaning more on self control and how to become a better person for a better tomorrow. After all our young children are the future of tomorrow and if we do not teach them right from wrong who will?

BoBee Wall Decals

I love decorating my home. Every chance I get I buy new home items and redecorate. One product I absolutely love buying are wall decals! BoBee Inc. makes lovely wall decals specifically for nurseries. Even though my children are 12 and 13, BoBee Inc. You are My Sunshine decal worked perfectly in their room over their television.


The decal came in a cute tube (not using a big package for a smaller product which is a + in my book). The decal itself was super easy to apply and took all of 5 minutes to apply and abut 10 minutes to clean the area of the wall I wanted to apply the decal.

I started by using a natural made household cleaner and a sponge and cleaned the area of the wall I was going to use. I let it dry for about 5 minutes. I then opened the tube that held the wall decal and unrolled it. I then proceeded to pull off the top layer revealing the sticker itself.

 I then peeled off a bit of the back paper then placed the sticky part of the decal and carefully placed it where I needed it. I did use a credit card to help smooth the wall sticker on to the wall making sure there were no bubbles. This took all of five minutes to do. It is that simple.

I then added two candle sconces to give it a more "grown up" look. I am very pleased with how it turned out not to mention how easy it was to achieve!

Learning Success Review & Giveaway! ~**CLOSED**~

 

 

For the last couple of weeks I have been using the Learning Success program. Once a day you will receive a email with helpful tips and tricks to guide your child through their learning disabilities.

The program will guide you through exercises to help children or adult with issues such as
Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia & ADD/ADHD. 

Both of my boys (ages 12 & 13) have learning disabilities. Since I have ben receiving the Learning Success emails I have been sitting down with each child and trying out the exercises. Liz has actually found exercises that children actually want to pay attention to. I am usually fighting with my youngest about doing homework or extra credit work. We usually sit for hours going back and forth yet getting no where. That is not the case with the learning success program. He will sit attentively and pay attention to each word, motion and direction.

With my 13 year old he mainly gets bored and feels he doesn't want to do the work. He has better things to do. Well since I showed him some tutorials from Liz and the learning success blog he has been asking me for more!

So far both of the children have done exercises that help with visual tracking, visual memory
 visual discrimination, eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills. I have seen an improvement with in both of my boys both in learning and in enthusiasm.

Say good bye to NERF & Hello to BOOMco.

  Recently I as sent the BOOMco. Rapid Madness Blaster and the BOOMco. Twisted Spinner Blaster from Mattel through BzzAgent free of charge for testing purposes. I have to say my 12 and 13 year old boys absolutely loved both the Rapid Madness Blaster and the Twisted Spinner.

  The Rapid Madness Blaster is values at $49.97USD at Walmart.  It comes with a clip that holds 20 darts. It is jam proof which is always nice as most of the NERF guns jam then break with in a week. The nice thing about the darts is they are made out of plastic and not foam. They also only stick to the gun shields and the target which makes for an easy clean up. Plus no more darts sticking to the TV or mirrors around the house! This is a "pump" gun that uses air to shoot that darts. It does take some force to pump the gun after about 8 pumps and only takes seconds for the darts to fly up to 50 feet away! All in all we are very pleased with the BOOMco. Rapid Madness Blaster!

The BOOMco. Twisted Spinner Blaster Values at $24.99USD at Target. Now this one is about half the size of the Rapid Madness Blaster but is just as good. The Twisted Spinner Blaster shoots 8 darts in about 5 seconds and the darts go as far as 70ft! The only negative thing I can think of with the Twisted Spinner Blaster is it makes a lot of noise! It is quite load. I would recommend this one for outside play only or buy a pair of ear plugs.

Needless to say the entire family is now a loyal fan of Mattel BOOMco dart guns! If you have a BOOMco gun please let me know what your thoughts are about them. What do you like or hate about them. I always love to hear what you all think.

Charlie the Cavalier Review & interview with Lisa Rusczyk

  Meet Charlie the Cavalier! He is a sweet puppy who watches over your loved ones while they are away and did I mention he loves attention?
  This adorable book was written by Lisa Rusczyk. I wasn't sure what to expect when I was first asked to read and review this book. When I downloaded it and started to read it I thought it was the cutest thing ever! Lisa did an amazing job on this book. I have read it to my 3 year old nephew over Skype and he begged for me to read it to him 3 times. I do recommend this book to all mothers, sisters, fathers, brothers, aunts, uncles and every one in between.  Lisa did a beautiful job rhyming on every page. It was fun to see my nephews face light up and beg for more Charlie the Cavalier! I can not wait for the next Charlie adventure!


  I wanted to go in more depth with the author and asked her if she would do a short survey and of course she was up for the task!

1. When did you start writing books children?

Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention is my first Children's book.  I have written 10 Ebook in the 50 Things to Know Book series and wanted to try a children's book.  I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter.  I saw a need for a book and puppet to use during video chatting. 

2. How did you get the idea for Charlie The Cavalier?

We have some long distance family that we do not see often.  When my daughter would Skype with them she would sometimes get board.  Before I became a Stay at Home Mom I was an Instructional Designer at Penn State University. I used the skills from my past job and current job to create this book.  Now there is a puppet and book to entertain children while video chatting.  Also children know that they are loved and their parents are safe when they are away.  

3. How many books are in the Charlie Cavalier collection?

This is the first book in the Charlie the Cavalier collection.  I am excited to make more.  I have been getting amazing feedback so far for the book.  I am now taking ideas for future books.  

4. When does Charlie the Cavalier become a paper back?

I am currently working daily on the paperback book.  Hopefully in July the book will be published.  I think having a paperback book will be nice for children to hold and view the amazing illustrations.
